The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) is proud to sponsor a Manufactured Soils Workshop at Ridgewood Soils, Inc., Reading, PA on July 15, 2010. It is a hands-on, in the field, one-day workshop for soil blenders and topsoil suppliers, composters, green building professionals, and the landscape and nursery industry.
The workshop will feature teaching and practical advice from Penn State University Soil Science faculty, a tour of the Ridgewood soil blending facility, and the opportunity to blend and evaluate your own soil.
At the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) April Board of Directors meeting Michele Nestor, President of Nestor Resources Inc., was unanimously elected Board Chair for the 2010-2011 term. Ms. Nestor succeeds Jim Shillenn, Executive Director of the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC). Robert Anderson, national business development director for Casella's FCR Recycling was elected as the Secretary. Robert Bylone, Jr., RMC Executive Director, remains as President of the non-profit corporation.

HARRISBURG, June 20, 2009 -- Grants totaling nearly $400,000 will allow businesses, colleges and farms in six Pennsylvania counties to reduce their organic waste and put what is left to a better use, Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger announced today. “This is an example of making something out of nothing,” said Hanger. “Every year, we simply throw away material that can be reused. Organic material such as food scraps, grass clippings and yard waste can be especially useful.

RMC Presented at PA Landscape and Nursery Conference
The Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Conference 2009 was on February 10-12 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College. Attendees gained fresh ideas, increased sales and met new green industry colleagues in a great, relaxing setting that is perfect for learning and networking. The Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association enhances the success of its members through knowledge, advocacy, and promotion of the horticultural industry.
The RMC successfully streamlined coordination of necessary activities for PC Parts, Inc (PC Surplus Recycling) to acquire an electronics recycling General Permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Penn State Harrisburg is currently accepting applications for two positions. They include a Senior Technical Specialist (RMC Program Manager) and a Technical Coordinator II.

The RMC will host an Agricultural Plastics Economic Development Forum on Nov. 6 in Harrisburg, with support from the Joint Legislative Conservation Committee. The forum will integrate stakeholders from both the agricultural and plastics industries.....
